1. Start recording on the camera and point it at this screen. 2. Tap Flash sync below — the screen counts down, then blinks white three times. 3. Stop recording. That short clip is the sync clip.
The matcher finds those blinks in the video and works out exactly how far the camera's
clock is from this phone's. Do it once per camera, per shoot.
The grey button is the no-fuss fallback: press it at the same instant the videographer
presses record. Less exact than the flash, still good enough to match takes.

Step 1 · Make the camera clock agree with this phone
—
The trick the pros use. Do not try to match the seconds by hand — you cannot.
Instead: a. Look at the big time below and add one minute in your head. b. Type that minute into the camera, with seconds at 00. c. Hold your finger over OK, watch the phone, and press OK the instant the phone
flips to that minute.
The camera clock now starts from zero on the same second as the phone.

set the camera to — and press OK when the phone reaches it
Step 2 · Film the flash
Even with the clocks set, camera clocks drift. The flash measures the exact
gap so nothing depends on your typing. Press record, point at the phone, tap Flash sync,
stop recording. Two seconds of video.
Step 3 · Prove it works
Roll the camera for about ten seconds and tap GOOD TAKE once in the
middle. Stop. That clip is your test — if the matcher files it into the GOOD folder,
the whole chain is proven before the real shoot starts.
Bonus · your A7 IV's own Shot Mark
MENU → Setup (toolbox) → Operation Customize → Custom Key/Dial Set. → pick a button
(the middle of the rear dial is a good one) → assign Shot Mark 1.
Press it while recording and the camera flags that spot itself. The matcher reads those
flags out of Sony's sidecar XML and merges them with your taps — belt and braces.
Keep tapping the app anyway: only the app gets you a voice tag.
